We wrote these terms the same way we built Heirloom: plainly, and on your side. By using Heirloom you agree to what follows. If anything here isn't clear, reach us through SeniorsLink.ca and we'll explain.
Heirloom turns gentle, guided conversations with a loved one into a written keepsake book and a private digital archive, with their real voice preserved alongside their stories. It is the companion product to SeniorsLink.ca.
$99 CAD, one time. That includes the guided interviews, the woven chapters, the living archive, the family companion, one premium hardcover, and your first twelve months of new recording. Extra hardcover copies are $49 CAD each. You never pay again to read, listen to, download, or keep your archive — that access is yours forever, with no renewal of any kind.
Heirloom Plus (optional, $59 CAD/year). If your family wants to keep adding to the archive after the first year — new chapters, new family questions, narration of new stories — an optional yearly plan covers the ongoing interviewing and narration costs. It renews annually until you cancel, and you can cancel any time. Declining or cancelling Heirloom Plus never affects access to anything already recorded.
Prices are in Canadian dollars and may change for new purchases, but the price you paid is the price you paid. Optional extras — premium binding, full-book narration, photo restoration, rush shipping — are each shown with their exact price at checkout, and the full total is displayed before you confirm. Standard shipping within Canada is included for your first delivery address; sending copies to additional addresses adds a per-address shipping charge, shown at checkout. Any taxes (where applicable) are shown before you confirm. Deliveries outside Canada may attract local customs duties or import taxes on arrival — those are set by the destination country and are the recipient's responsibility; we can neither prepay nor predict them.
If Heirloom isn't right for your family, tell us within 30 days of your purchase and we'll make it right — and if we truly can't, we'll refund you in full, to your original payment method. We'd rather earn you honestly than hold you to a sale.
For the printed book specifically: every page is approved by your family before printing, and you confirm at checkout that the preview is exactly what will print. Books that arrive with a manufacturing defect or shipping damage are replaced free, always. If a printed book is simply not what you hoped, talk to us — a corrected reprint is our first answer, and the guarantee above still stands behind everything.
Your family's recordings, photos, and stories remain yours. You grant us only the limited permission we need to provide the service — to transcribe, weave, store, print, and (with your consent) share the material with the people you authorize. We claim no ownership of your family's memories, and we will not use them to train outside AI models.
No chapter is printed or shared until a named family member has reviewed and approved it. Heirloom does not invent memories; where your loved one didn't speak to something, it stays blank rather than filled in.
By default, every voice in Heirloom is a real recording — we never generate speech in a living person's voice. After a loved one has passed, immediate family may choose to create a Memorial Voice: a recreation built only from that person's own real recordings. It is created only after a named family member confirms, in writing, that they have the authority and their family's agreement to do so; it is labeled "a recreation, not an original recording" everywhere it plays; and the family can revoke and permanently delete it at any time. The family member who gives that confirmation is responsible for its truth, and if we learn a Memorial Voice was created without proper authority, we will delete it.
Heirloom helps preserve stories. It is not medical, legal, financial, or estate-planning advice, and the posthumous-access features are a convenience, not a substitute for a will or legal estate instructions.
We work hard to keep the service available and your archive safe, and we give you the means to download a complete, self-contained copy so your keepsake never depends on us being online. We may occasionally pause the service for maintenance. The service is provided “as is,” and to the extent permitted by law our liability is limited to the amount you paid for Heirloom.
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the applicable laws of Canada. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
